Rasatarangini is an authoritative document for Rasashastra and contains all the details of the various processes involved in drug preparation. 

It is considered the last ancient manuscript of Rasashastra written in modern times.Rasatarangini was written by Pranacharya Sadananda Sharma. Colophon given at the end of the last chapter clearly identifies the author of this article as Sadananda Sharma. 

He belongs to the Garhwali Brahmin family of the Gildiyal surname. His father is Pandit Jeevananda and his mother Saraswati Devi. 

This may explain the relationship of the author who wrote the text to Rasashastra.Sadananda Sharma donated Rasatarangini to his teacher, Kaviraj Narendra Nath Mitra. Elsewhere, he quotes his pastor's expertise in Rasashastra and acknowledges his reverence in certain places in the text. The text is written in the form of poems everywhere. 

The foreword to the text was written by Sadananda Sharma himself, and the foreword by Hari Dutt Shastri, a Sanskrit commentator on the text. Hindi introduction by Dharmananda Shastri. The book is complete and contains 24 chapters called ‘Taranga’ covering 3651 verses.
