Description of Charak Samhita book in Gujarati PDF Free Download

Charaksamhita is a famous book of Ayurveda. It is in Sanskrit language. Its preachers are Atriputra Punavasu, the author Agnivesh and the recluse Charak. Charaksamhita and Sushrutasamhita are two of the oldest foundational texts of Ayurveda, which have survived from the cheeks of time. Three big names in Indian medical science are Charak, Sushruta and Vagbhat. The Ashtanga Sangraha of Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita and Vagbhat are still standard texts of Indian medical science (Ayurveda).

Charaksamhita was composed even before the second century. It is divided into eight parts which are named 'places' (eg, nidhanpasthana). There are several chapters in each 'place', whose total number is 120, in which the (then) principles related to the human body, etiology, symptoms and treatment of many diseases are described. In Charak Samhita, there is a detailed discussion about food, hygiene, ways to avoid diseases, medical education, medicine, doctor and patients.

The following creators have contributed to the creation of Charaka Samhita :

1. Acharya Agnivesh - The main creator of Charaka Samhita is Agnivesh, whose creation was Charaka Samhita, in protest. Acharya Charaka - The Charaka Samhita was cultivated only by Acharya Charaka. Charak was a resident of a village called Kapil Sthal in the country of Punjab. Experts of karyakheta are called ‘Charakaah’ or ‘Charaka’. Acharya Charak has been considered a disciple of Vaishampayan Muni. Charaka's period is considered to be the first century.

2. Dradh bal - Some parts of Charak Samhita have been composed by Acharya Dradh bal. From the 17th chapter of the medical place of Charaksamhita to Kalpasthana, it has been fulfilled by him.

According to Charaka Samhita subjects, eight parts (which are called 'sthana'), and consists of 120 chapters. 

Total 8 sthana of charak samhita :

1. Sutra sthana - 30 chapters 
2. Nidhansthanam (Pathology) - 8 chapters,
3. Viman sthana - 8 chapters,
4. Shaarir sthana- 8 chapters,
5. Indriya sthanam- 12 chapters,
6. Chikitsa sthana- 30
7. Kalpa sthana  - 12 chapters,
8. Siddhisthanam (Success in treatment) - 12 chapters.

Charaksamhita is considered to be the main text of the Atreyasampradaya.
